Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the StateVu mobile application and related services ("Service") operated by StateVu ("we", "us", "our"). By using StateVu, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

StateVu is a mobile application that analyzes bank statement PDFs and screenshots to categorize your expenses and provide spending insights using artificial intelligence. The Service is available on iOS and Android.

Important: StateVu provides informational spending analysis only. It is not a financial advisor, tax advisor, accountant, or banking service. You should not rely solely on StateVu for financial decisions.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use StateVu. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information (email address).
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account.

We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

StateVu offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription:

• Free tier: Limited features including 2 statements per month, basic insights, and unlimited cards.
• Pro tier: $7.99/mo monthly or $79.90/yr yearly. Includes 10 statements per month, premium insights, AI chat, household creation, export, and unlimited comparisons.

Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

To cancel, go to your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play). We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds — contact Apple or Google for refund requests.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use StateVu only for lawful, personal financial analysis. You must not:

• Upload documents that are not your own bank statements or that you do not have authorization to analyze.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the application.
• Use the Service to process data for commercial or third-party financial services.
• Abuse, exploit, or circumvent any usage limits or security measures.
• Upload content that is fraudulent, illegal, or violates the rights of others.

6. AI Processing & Accuracy

StateVu uses Anthropic's Claude AI to extract and categorize expenses from your bank statements. While we strive for accuracy:

• AI-generated categorizations, insights, and summaries may contain errors.
• The AI chat feature (Statepy) provides informational responses based on your data — it is not professional financial advice.
• You are responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of any extracted data.
• We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated analysis.

Anthropic does not use your data to train their AI models (per their API usage policy).

7. Data & Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data. Key points:

• Uploaded PDFs and screenshots are deleted immediately after processing.
• Expense data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest.
• We never store your banking credentials.
• You can delete your account and all data at any time from Settings.

8. Intellectual Property

The StateVu application, including its design, code, AI models integration, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your personal financial data.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on StateVu without our written permission.

9. Household Feature

Pro subscribers can create a household and invite up to 5 members to share spending data. By creating or joining a household:

• You consent to sharing your expense data with other household members.
• The household owner can view combined spending across all members.
• Members can leave a household at any time.
• If the owner's Pro subscription expires, household features become unavailable for all members.

10. Limitation of Liability

StateVu is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• We are not responsible for inaccuracies in AI-generated expense categorization or insights.
• Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using StateVu at any time by deleting your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of StateVu after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration.
